A test pen, also known as a voltage tester or electrical tester, is the most common tool used to determine whether an electrical circuit is live or not. It is mostly used by electricians, DIY enthusiasts, and technicians to check the presence of an electrical current in wires, outlets, and other electrical components. When a test pen is touched to a live wire or component, it completes a circuit between the live wire and the user’s body, causing a small amount of current to flow through it. If a current is present, the lighting inside the pen will light up.
